11. candid- honesty; frank

Make sure that conversations with close friends are candid.

My fate of getting a zero on the test was inevitable after my teacher caught me cheating.

The exams at the end of the year are easily avoidable if you get at least an A or B in the class.




 
18. eccentric- not conventional; a little kooky; irregular

The movie that portrayed the future as a world with only flying cars and robots was a little eccentric.


Antonym: ordinary

I want more excitement in my life because I'm tired of my everyday, ordinary schedule.





19. provincial- limited in outlook to one's own small corner of the world; narrow

Belle wanted so much more than her ordinary, provincial life.


Antonym: open-minded

After the girl when one a journey around the world, she was more open-minded to other cultures.





20. futile- hopeless; without effect

The weaponless African slaves' attempts to fight the armed Portuguese traders were futile.


Antonym: productive

The worker who sat at his desk and worked all day without even taking a lunch break had a very productive day.
