Giving the man a promotion would augment his income.
 
 
Antonym: decrease

There was a decrease in the man's paycheck when his business had to take a pay cut.

42. complacent- smug; self-satisfied; pleased with oneself; contented to a fault

Adele became very complacent after winning eight Grammy Awards.


Antonym: dissatisfied

The boy was dissatisfied with himself after failing to do his trick correctly in front of the crowd.


43. guile- cunning; duplicity

The guile and cunning boys could easily pick up girls.


Antonym: honesty

The president that used honesty won the election in the end.

The tedious, predictable movie seemed to be incessant.


Antonym: ceasing

The meeting was very short and ceasing despite its great importance.


46. laudable- worthy of praise

Only God, King of Heaven and Earth is truly laudable at all times.


Antonym: unworthy

Most people believe that they are unworthy in the presence of God.


47. deter- to prevent; to stop; to keep from doing something

Punishments are in place for wrongdoings to deter people from breaking rules.

Most rules are in place to persuade students to be good and do what is right.

48. redundant- repetitive; unnecessary; excessively wordy

The teachers lecture was very redundant which caused kids to grow bored and get off track.

The student's speech was very short and concise.


49. infamous- shamefully wicked; having an extremely bad reputation; disgraceful

Elphaba became infamous in Oz after the wizard told everyone that she was truly wicked.


Antonym: innocent

The girl was very innocent for almost her whole life.

50. provocative- exciting; attracting attention

Prom is a very provocative event for most high schools.
